Mark Manson’s first book ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck’ had so many profound insights, it was a no brainer to pick this one up.
As I enthusiastically played the audio book, notebook and pen in hand, waiting for the wisdom to flow. I found myself waiting and waiting and still waiting…. For a book about hope, It seemed like a long and hopeless exercise!
For one, there was no definition of hope or the lack thereof in most of the first half of the book. Mark is a great story teller and some of the stories in the book were great narrations with somewhat impactful messages. But really no Aha! moments here.
The concept of Antifragility was good but not his own.
Just before the end of the book though, the discussion on artificial intelligence comes as a saving grace. Mark’s insight into what artificial intelligence could do to human processes and even to consciousness is pretty insightful and provides a refreshing take on the theory that artificial intelligence is here to take our jobs and maybe even our lives.
