This book is like a breath of fresh air! Despite the amount of solemn wisdom it carries, it comes across as approachable and actionable.
This is a story of a woman, Camille, facing life challenges that many of us could relate to. Life brings life lessons to her in the form of several sessions with her ‘routinologist’ – a gentleman by the name of Claude who she meets in a chance encounter. As the story progresses, their meetings and discussions, change Camille’s perspective and therefore her life.
Claude starts with diagnosing her situation as ‘acute routinitis’. By the way, routinitis and routinologist are real words even though spell check does not seem to think so. Go ahead and google it if you must!
Through personal discussions, introspective writing assignments, and sometimes through writing assignments, Claude enables Camille to think deeply about her life – Where it’s at and where she would like for it to be at. Each of these sessions is conducted in the most helpful way possible with no hint of a ‘holier than thou’ attitude.
As a result of surprisingly simple measures taken, Camille’s life transforms before your eyes. She goes from barely surviving to live her best life! And it all happens in such a logical and believable way that you will walk away inspired to face your everyday challenges with similar intellectual curiosity. You will also feel inspired to tackle your difficulties, one at a time, in every way possible. You know every change you make is impactful, no matter how small it may seem. You will believe that your dreams if deeply contemplated, and persistently worked on, are quite attainable.
To me, this is the kind of fairy tale we should be reading to our children, especially our little girls. Identifying and confronting our problems by taking the right action is both a fundamental right and a duty to your Self. Then, as a consequence, magic unfolds in due course.
Listening to the audio-book version of this book was an absolute delight! The readers, with their charming french accents, have performed beautifully. I wish more books by this author were translated into English.
Overall this book is a must-read in my opinion!
